Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Man with Facemask in Landscape, 1995 by Angus Jones was auctioned at Bonhams in August this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 738.00 (€ 440.39). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Angus Jones - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled Face, which sold at auction in July 2020 for AUD 1,952.00 (€ 1,657.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Man with Facemask in Landscape, 1995 von Angus Jones im August diesen Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 738,00 (€ 440,39) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Angus Jones mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled Face beobachtet, die im Juli 2020 für AUD 1.952,00 (€ 1.657,89) versteigert wurde.
