Auction result well in line with expectations
The work African Elephant: One Plate from Endangered Species by Andy Warhol was sold in the Old Master, Modern & Contemporary Prints auction at Christies in London in June 2000. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,112.50 (€ 6,518.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).
