Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work View of Balmoral Castle with figures harvesting in the foreground by Andrew W. Melrose was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,640.00 (€ 2,239.19). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andrew W. Melrose achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View From New Jersey Looking Towards Downtown New York in May 2006 with an auction result of USD 102,000.00 (€ 79,482.58).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit View of Balmoral Castle with figures harvesting in the foreground von Andrew W. Melrose im November 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.640,00 (€ 2.239,19) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Andrew W. Melrose erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit View From New Jersey Looking Towards Downtown New York im Mai 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 102.000,00 (€ 79.482,58).
