In May 2006 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Pictures, which included the work America'S Cup, 1887: Volunteer Versus Thistle Off The Sandy Hook Light Vessel by Andrew Bennett. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 780.00 (€ 1,138.55), 56% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Andrew Bennett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Endeavour And Velsheda Racing Off The Royal Yacht Squadron, Cowes, 1934 in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 5,040.00 (€ 7,404.40).
