Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2005 a collector was able to acquire the work H.M.S. Victory Running Past Gibraltar by Andrew Bennett for GBP 108.00 (€ 158.67). This price was achieved in the auction MARITIME PICTURES at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 200.00 – 400.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andrew Bennett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Endeavour And Velsheda Racing Off The Royal Yacht Squadron, Cowes, 1934 in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 5,040.00 (€ 7,404.40).
