Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2005 Christies in London held the auction MARITIME PICTURES AND WATERCOLOURS, which included the work Topsail Schooners Leaving The Azores With Cargoes of Citrus Fruits by Andrew Bennett. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 336.00 (€ 497.97) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andrew Bennett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Endeavour And Velsheda Racing Off The Royal Yacht Squadron, Cowes, 1934 in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 5,040.00 (€ 7,404.40).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion MARITIME PICTURES AND WATERCOLOURS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Topsail Schooners Leaving The Azores With Cargoes of Citrus Fruits von Andrew Bennett zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 336,00 (€ 497,97) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Andrew Bennett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Endeavour And Velsheda Racing Off The Royal Yacht Squadron, Cowes, 1934 im November 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.040,00 (€ 7.404,40).
