Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Desert Landscape (Thought to be the San Jacinto Mountains) by Alson Skinner Clark was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in August this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,816.00 (€ 2,598.03). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alson Skinner Clark achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work In the Lock, Miraflores in June 2002 with an auction result of USD 81,260.00 (€ 82,447.24).
