This artwork by Algernon Newton achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in March this year. In the Modern British and Irish Art auction, the work Country Lane sold for GBP 11,475.00 (€ 13,055.03) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Algernon Newton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Stour, near Sudbury in November 2018 with an auction result of GBP 62,500.00 (€ 70,498.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 91 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Algernon Newton erzielte im März diesen Jahres bei Bonhams einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern British and Irish Art wurde die Arbeit Country Lane für GBP 11.475,00 (€ 13.055,03) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Algernon Newton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Stour, near Sudbury im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 62.500,00 (€ 70.498,10).
