In July last year Bonhams in London held the auction Modern British and Irish Art, which included the work Study of Trees by Algernon Newton. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,040.00 (€ 2,436.12), 70% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Algernon Newton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Stour, near Sudbury in November 2018 with an auction result of GBP 62,500.00 (€ 70,498.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 70 % übertroffen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study of Trees von Algernon Newton zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.040,00 (€ 2.436,12) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Algernon Newton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Stour, near Sudbury im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 62.500,00 (€ 70.498,10).
