Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sheep in moonlight by Alfred William Strutt was auctioned at Bonhams in London in December 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 408.00 (€ 486.66). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alfred William Strutt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A watched pot never boils in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 37,600.00 (€ 59,600.63).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Sheep in moonlight von Alfred William Strutt im Dezember 2021 bei Bonhams in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 408,00 (€ 486,66) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alfred William Strutt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A watched pot never boils im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 37.600,00 (€ 59.600,63).
