Auction result well in line with expectations
In June last year Sothebys in London held the auction Modern British Day Auction, which included the work Three Masted Ships and Arched Railway Bridge by Alfred Wallis. It changed hands for a price of GBP 17,640.00 (€ 20,492.66) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Admittedly, works by Alfred Wallis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work St Ives Bay With Godrevy in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 145,250.00 (€ 180,975.11).
