Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work El Capitan Dam by Alfred R. Mitchell was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 50,000.00 – 75,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 48,255.00 (€ 46,745.13). Other works by Alfred R. Mitchell have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in August 2018 by the work Sunset glow at USD 62,500.00 (€ 53,897.90).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit El Capitan Dam von Alfred R. Mitchell im November letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 50.000,00 – 75.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 48.255,00 (€ 46.745,13) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Alfred R. Mitchell wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im August 2018 die Arbeit Sunset glow mit USD 62.500,00 (€ 53.897,90).
