Referring to the place of the present work and Woman in a Garden (circa 1907, Hofstra University Museum, Hempstead, New York) within Alfred Maurer's oeuvre, Sheldon Reich writes, "The landscapes that survive from this period--about 1906 or 1907 to 1914, the year of his departure for New York--are relatively few. Even here, however, can be detected some notes of transition. The two landscapes with a figure, begun in a rather impressionist vein, end in the large forcefulness of Fauvism." (Alfred H

Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Alfred Henry Maurer achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November 2017. In the American Art Online auction, the work Figure in Landscape sold for USD 32,500.00 (€ 27,315.52) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alfred Henry Maurer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Woman In White in May 2011 with an auction result of USD 590,500.00 (€ 410,754.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Alfred Henry Maurer erzielte im November 2017 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Art Online wurde die Arbeit Figure in Landscape für USD 32.500,00 (€ 27.315,52) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alfred Henry Maurer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Woman In White im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 590.500,00 (€ 410.754,03).
