In February 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction The Fine Art Society: 142 Years on New Bond Street, which included the work Eros by Alfred Gilbert. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 262,000.00 (€ 305,632.13), 75% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Alfred Gilbert; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Saint George sold at auction in December 2014 with the realized price of GBP 338,500.00 (€ 435,761.76).

Im Februar 2019 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion The Fine Art Society: 142 Years on New Bond Street durch, in der auch die Arbeit Eros von Alfred Gilbert zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 262.000,00 (€ 305.632,13) und damit 75% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Alfred Gilbert; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Saint George im Dezember 2014 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 338.500,00 (€ 435.761,76).
