In October 2007 Christies in New York held the auction The House Sale, which included the work Trompe l'oeil of letters, cards, an envelope, pencil, match and cigar stub by Alexandre-Thomas Francia. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,750.00 (€ 1,900.75), 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Alexandre-Thomas Francia have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work View of Loch Katrine in October 2008 with an auction result of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 11,153.11).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2007 führte Christies in New York die Auktion The House Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Trompe l'oeil of letters, cards, an envelope, pencil, match and cigar stub von Alexandre-Thomas Francia zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 2.750,00 (€ 1.900,75) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alexandre-Thomas Francia auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit View of Loch Katrine im Oktober 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.750,00 (€ 11.153,11).
