primarily black lead, some leaves with black chalk with grey wash heightened with white, watermark arms of Strasburg and J.H. & Z., and arms of Strasburg and J. HONIG & ZOONEN, bound in boards with a leather spine

The work A sketchbook of 56 leaves containing landscapes, townscapes, animal studies, figure studies, studies of trees, and studies of farmhouses and other vernacular buildings by Alexandre Jean Noël was auctioned at Christies in London in April 2000. The price achieved of GBP 3,525.00 (€ 6,034.66) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Alexandre Jean Noël have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Stormy Mediterranean Coastal Scene With Distressed Fishermen In The Foreground; A Calm Mediterranean Coastal Scene With Fishermen Unloading Their Catch in April 2008 with an auction result of GBP 46,100.00 (€ 58,770.99).
