This price was achieved in the auction American Paintings at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 30,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Alexander Phimister Proctor; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot 'Indian Warrior' sold at auction in November 2011 with the realized price of USD 158,500.00 (€ 117,817.59).
