It achieved a price of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,349.09), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 50%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Albert Namatjira - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mt Sonder, MacDonnell Ranges, which sold at auction in April this year for AUD 92,250.00 (€ 55,291.51).

Die Arbeit Ghost gum, MacDonnell Ranges, 1953 von Albert Namatjira kam im September 2010 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 17.349,09) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 50%. Für andere Arbeiten von Albert Namatjira mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mt Sonder, MacDonnell Ranges beobachtet, die im April diesen Jahres für AUD 92.250,00 (€ 55.291,51) versteigert wurde.
