This artwork by Albert Namatjira achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Melbourne in November 2009. In the Important Australian Art auction, the work Australian Macdonnell Ranges Landscape sold for AUD 43,800.00 (€ 26,708.24) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 25,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Albert Namatjira - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mt Sonder, MacDonnell Ranges, which sold at auction in April this year for AUD 92,250.00 (€ 55,291.51).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 75 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Albert Namatjira erzielte im November 2009 bei Sothebys in Melbourne einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Australian Art wurde die Arbeit Australian Macdonnell Ranges Landscape für AUD 43.800,00 (€ 26.708,24) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von AUD 25.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Albert Namatjira mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mt Sonder, MacDonnell Ranges beobachtet, die im April diesen Jahres für AUD 92.250,00 (€ 55.291,51) versteigert wurde.
