engraving, 1515, on laid paper, second, final state, trimmed to the subject, laid down onto card, the upper right corner made up, various tears and creases, a small square of paper with initials R.V in ink stuck to the tablet in the foreground; together with Hercules and Antaeus (B. 237), after Raphael, engraving, 1553, on laid paper, with an indistinct circular watermark, small margins, four horizontal central creases, pinholes at the sheet edges at the lower left and right corners, otherwise in good condition

This artwork by Agostino Veneziano achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2012. In the Old Master, Decorative, Modern & Contemporary Prints including an Important Private Collection by Lill Tschudi auction, the work The Carcass (Bartsch 426) sold for GBP 3,000.00 (€ 3,699.83) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Agostino Veneziano - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Three Holy Women going to the Sepulchre, which sold at auction in December 2019 for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,602.80).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Agostino Veneziano erzielte im Dezember 2012 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master, Decorative, Modern & Contemporary Prints including an Important Private Collection by Lill Tschudi wurde die Arbeit The Carcass (Bartsch 426) für GBP 3.000,00 (€ 3.699,83) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Agostino Veneziano mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Three Holy Women going to the Sepulchre beobachtet, die im Dezember 2019 für GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.602,80) versteigert wurde.
