Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
When the work Contemplation On The Riverbank by Adrien Moreau was auctioned at Christies in London in January 2016, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 3,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at GBP 20,000.00 (€ 26,189.07). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Adrien Moreau - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Carnival Procession, which sold at auction in November 2001 for USD 61,100.00 (€ 68,207.19).
Kunstwerk zum Fünffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Contemplation On The Riverbank von Adrien Moreau im Januar 2016 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 3.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 20.000,00 (€ 26.189,07) mehr als fünfmal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Adrien Moreau mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Carnival Procession beobachtet, die im November 2001 für USD 61.100,00 (€ 68.207,19) versteigert wurde.
