Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Cristo by Adriana Varejão was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 257,000.00 (€ 188,887.26) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Adriana Varejão have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Parede com Incisões a la Fontana II (Wall with Incisions a la Fontana II) in February 2011 with an auction result of GBP 1,105,250.00 (€ 1,301,892.03).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Cristo von Adriana Varejão kam im November 2013 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 257.000,00 (€ 188.887,26) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Adriana Varejão auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Parede com Incisões a la Fontana II (Wall with Incisions a la Fontana II) im Februar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.105.250,00 (€ 1.301.892,03).
