Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Dutch man'o-war at anchor in the Mediterranean, lying off a jetty, with figures on the foreshore by Adriaen Van Salm was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in May 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,146.89) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Adriaen Van Salm achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Dutch Man-Of-War Firing A Salute, With A Flotilla Of Fishing Boats And Other Shipping Beyond: A Penschilderij in January 2010 with an auction result of USD 602,500.00 (€ 434,390.77).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A Dutch man'o-war at anchor in the Mediterranean, lying off a jetty, with figures on the foreshore von Adriaen Van Salm wurde im Mai 2011 in der Auktion Maritime Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 6.250,00 (€ 7.146,89) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Adriaen Van Salm erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Dutch Man-Of-War Firing A Salute, With A Flotilla Of Fishing Boats And Other Shipping Beyond: A Penschilderij im Januar 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 602.500,00 (€ 434.390,77).
