In October 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Two Centuries: American Art, which included the work Descending Night by Adolph Alexander Weinman. The »bidding war« ended at USD 35,280.00 (€ 30,540.17), 41% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Adolph Alexander Weinman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Chief Black Bird, Ogalalla Sioux in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 205,000.00 (€ 131,680.37).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 41 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Two Centuries: American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Descending Night von Adolph Alexander Weinman zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 35.280,00 (€ 30.540,17) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Adolph Alexander Weinman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Chief Black Bird, Ogalalla Sioux im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 205.000,00 (€ 131.680,37).
