Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work A Moorish servant girl in El Palacio de los Leones, The Alhambra, Granada by Adolf Seel was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2007, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 5,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 15,600.00 (€ 22,956.46). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Adolf Seel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nacht Wache in October 2018 with an auction result of USD 372,500.00 (€ 328,715.14).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit A Moorish servant girl in El Palacio de los Leones, The Alhambra, Granada von Adolf Seel im Mai 2007 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 5.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 15.600,00 (€ 22.956,46) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Adolf Seel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nacht Wache im Oktober 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 372.500,00 (€ 328.715,14).
