In July last year Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Auction, which included the work Rotterdam, a view of shipping on the Nieuwe Maas river, taken from the south-east; Amsterdam, a view of shipping on the IJ, taken from the north-east by Abraham Storck. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 201,600.00 (€ 240,746.21), 34% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Abraham Storck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Capricci of Mediterranean ports: the first with the monument of the Four Moors of Leghorn; the second with a monument of Abundance, which sold at auction in July 2000 for GBP 443,750.00 (€ 717,537.91).
