As early as 1974, the art museum of the Swiss city of Solothurn showed a retrospective of Meret Oppenheim's work, thus reminding people of the artist's oeuvre. 47 years later, on 23 October 2021, the museum is now presenting another retrospective of Meret Oppenheim's works on paper. Meret Oppenheim (1913-1985): Works on Paper includes 18 original works on paper from the Kunstmuseum's own collection: sheets in ink, pencil, coloured pencil, charcoal and gouache. The same motifs or styles appear here repeatedly at intervals of many years, possibly revealing Oppenheim's artistic attitude to unchanging content, which she found more relevant than a stylistic signature. The approximately 100 exhibits presented cover a creative period from the 1930s to the 1980s and illustrate Oppenheim's lifelong engagement with art. People interested in art have the opportunity to view the exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Solothurn until February 27, 2022.

Meret Elisabeth Oppenheim (1913 - 1985), born on 6 October 1913 in what is now Berlin, was a Swiss artist. Together with André Breton, Luis Buñuel and Max Ernst , she is one of the most important representatives of Surrealism. Today, she belongs to the circle of outstanding artists such as Frieda Kahlo, Sophie Taeuber-Arp, Louise Bourgeois or Cindy Sherman. The exhibition Meret Oppenheim (1913-1985): Works on Paper was made possible by contributions from public and private collections as well as extensive loans from the Kunstmuseum Bern. From Oct. 22, 2021 to Feb. 13, 2022, the latter will present the Oppenheim retrospective Meret Oppenheim. Mon exposition, which will be complemented by the exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Solothurn. London, Tate Britain

It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.

Guido Klumpe

It is in the context of functional architecture in urban spaces that Guido Klumpe finds the motifs that he stages with his camera as the poetry of the profane. His picturesque images unfold an opulent effect with a reduced formal language, showing us the beauty of the moment in the flow of everyday life.
