Whether with Rhythm 0 (1975), a performance in which the audience was allowed to interact freely with the artist - which ended with a loaded gun being held to her head − or The House with the Ocean View (2002), when she lived in a gallery for 12 days, Marina Abramović has repeatedly pushed the boundaries of art over the past decades and made people face uncomfortable truths about their behavior and instincts. The first major exhibition on the artist in the UK offers a wide range of her oeuvre. Not only the famous performances, revived by younger artists, but also video art, installations, photography and object art can be seen here. The Marina Abramović exhibition runs from September 23, 2023 to January 1, 2024 at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.

Marina Abramović (b. 1946) is one of the most famous contemporary artists. She played a major role in establishing performance art and was the first artist allowed to perform in museums. She participated in the Venice Biennale twice, in 1976 and 1997, and in the documenta in Kassel three times (1977, 1982, 1992). A trained painter who decided to turn to performance art in her 20s, she is an honorary member of the Royal Academy of London.

It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.
