A traveling painter in search of hidden connections: From Uruguay to China, from the USA to the Philippines, Georg Brandner has traveled to numerous countries on six continents. His original, large-format paintings develop from the impressions that the world offers and form a universal reality. They transcend man-made cultural and artistic boundaries and aim to promote cohesion. The recurring red is Brandner's symbol of warmth. In the exhibition Georg Brandner. My pilgrimage, the Styrian painter shows how far he has already gone and invites us to follow him. Recent works share the exhibition space with older works that have never been shown before, offering a unique view of the internationally renowned artist's oeuvre. The show runs until April 4 at the Hofgalerie im Steiermarkhof in Graz.

Georg Brandner (*1956) is a trained glazier and has been a freelance artist for almost 50 years. Transparent characteristics also interest him as a painter. He covers his collages with epoxy resin, a labor-intensive practice that gives his works a special radiance. International commissions and his own creations have made him known beyond the borders of his native Austria. Brandner, who also works as a lecturer and curator, is a participant in the Art.Salon artist program. In 2012, he was awarded the culture prize of his native town of Leoben.Art.Salon

Dive deeper into the art world

London, Tate Britain

It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.

Guido Klumpe

It is in the context of functional architecture in urban spaces that Guido Klumpe finds the motifs that he stages with his camera as the poetry of the profane. His picturesque images unfold an opulent effect with a reduced formal language, showing us the beauty of the moment in the flow of everyday life.
