First bronze sculptures by Mathias Kadolph

Patio, Teatro piccolo, Vis à vis

The lively, dynamic and concentrated formal language of sculptor Mathias Kadolph has so far manifested itself primarily through his material, wood. Now, for the first time, he has had miniatures cast in bronze in an edition of twelve sculptures each. These convey essential impressions of his formal ideas and open up to new impulses for our perception.

Mathias Kadolph has been creating powerful, clearly formulated sculptures for many years. These also live from their inner contrasts, associating boundaries and delimitations, spatial penetration, steps, gates, windows; altogether a multi-layered dialog of light and air. Kadolph's affinity with architecture, his first study, is evident time and again.

At first glance, the compositions appear massive, calm and heavy. A closer look reveals the fragility, the imbalance that transforms the heaviness into lightness. The current bronzes Patio, Teatro piccolo and Vis à vis tie in with this expression. They were initially deliberately made in wood in order to allow precisely this character to flow into the bronze material. The colorful palette of the patina offers new visual impressions with its very own, appealing charm.Art.Salon
