The National Gallery's first major exhibition on Dürer in the United Kingdom in nearly 20 years is dedicated to one of history's most celebrated artists. His paintings, drawings and prints are world-renowned, and Dürer's fame extended throughout Europe already during his lifetime.
Aachen exhibition »Dürer's Journeys: Travels of a Renaissance Artist« now in London
From November 20, 2021 to February 27, 2022, the National Gallery London will host an exhibition tracing the influences of Dürer's travels on his works. This show is a modified version of the exhibition at Aachen's Suermondt-Ludwig Museum, which ended in October.
Recent auction results of Dürer
While the Aachen exhibition focused primarily on Dürer's journey to the Netherlands in 1520/21, the National Gallery is adding Dürer's travels to the Alps and Italy to the presentation. Dürer was one of the artists decisively responsible for the exchange of artistic developments of the Renaissance across the Alps.
For the exhibition, works have been borrowed from around the world from private collections and museums. Among them is the Madonna and Child (circa 1496/99) from the National Gallery of Art, Washington, which has never before been seen in Britain.

»The 80s: Photographing Britain«
It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.
