NOTE: Zhu Zhiyu was a native of Zhejiang province, and an imperial student of the Ming Dynasty. After 1644, Zhu settled in Japan, and gave lectures in Nagasaki and Edo (now Tokyo), spreading Confucianism.

Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2020 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online, which included the work Five-character Poems Calligraphy by Zhu Zhiyu. The price achieved of HKD 30,000.00 (€ 3,445.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 20,000.00 – 40,000.00. Admittedly, works by Zhu Zhiyu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Running Script Calligraphy in November 2019 with an auction result of HKD 250,000.00 (€ 28,995.37).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2020 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Five-character Poems Calligraphy von Zhu Zhiyu zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 30.000,00 (€ 3.445,82) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 20.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Zhu Zhiyu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Running Script Calligraphy im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 250.000,00 (€ 28.995,37).
