Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
When the work Mi Fu Worships Stone by Zhu Xinjian was auctioned at Bonhams in Hong Kong in October 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 5,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at HKD 25,500.00 (€ 2,836.52). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zhu Xinjian achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bird on a Branch in April this year with an auction result of HKD 102,000.00 (€ 104,161.96).
