Auction result well in line with expectations
The work After Construction, 1939 by Zhao Wangyun was sold in the The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy II auction at Bonhams in Hong Kong in November 2020. The price achieved of HKD 377,500.00 (€ 40,757.87) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zhao Wangyun achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Riding Game in November 2013 with an auction result of HKD 10,600,000.00 (€ 1,004,997.80).
