Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Sleeping Cat by Zhang Zhengyu was auctioned at China Guardian in Hong Kong in March 2019, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 12,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at HKD 56,640.00 (€ 6,426.73). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Zhang Zhengyu; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy sold at auction in April this year with the realized price of HKD 12,000.00 (€ 12,254.35).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Sleeping Cat von Zhang Zhengyu im März 2019 bei China Guardian in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 12.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 56.640,00 (€ 6.426,73) mehr als viermal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Zhang Zhengyu; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Calligraphy im April diesen Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 12.000,00 (€ 12.254,35).
