Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
When the work Calligraphy Couplet In Running Script by Zhang Jian was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2016, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 3,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at USD 17,500.00 (€ 15,364.35). Admittedly, works by Zhang Jian have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Reflection of Moon in October 2014 with an auction result of HKD 1,437,500.00 (€ 147,994.81).
Kunstwerk zum Fünffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Running Script von Zhang Jian im März 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 3.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 17.500,00 (€ 15.364,35) mehr als fünfmal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Zhang Jian auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Reflection of Moon im Oktober 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.437.500,00 (€ 147.994,81).
