Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sifikile, Nuoro, Italy from Somnyama Ngonyama by Zanele Muholi was sold in the Photographs auction at Phillips in London in May this year. The price achieved of GBP 15,240.00 (€ 17,731.84) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Zanele Muholi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Alakhe, which sold at auction in December last year for GBP 35,280.00 (€ 39,827.68).

Die Arbeit Sifikile, Nuoro, Italy from Somnyama Ngonyama von Zanele Muholi wurde im Mai diesen Jahres in der Auktion Photographs bei Phillips in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 15.240,00 (€ 17.731,84) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Zanele Muholi mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Alakhe beobachtet, die im Dezember letzten Jahres für GBP 35.280,00 (€ 39.827,68) versteigert wurde.
