Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
20 oban triptychs and two diptychs (incomplete sheets from a triptych) prints of mainly bijinga, some with all three sheets joined, others in three separate sheets, including: one from the series Mitate Soga kodomo matsu no zu (A Parody of Soga Brothers Performed by Children); one of the kabuki play Shinrei Yaguchi no watashiba (Miracle of the Yaguchi Ferry) from the series Take no hitofushi (Bamboo Knots); and four from the Tokugawa jidai kifujin no zu (Elegant Ladies of the Tokugawa Period), variously published and variously signed; each in a plastic sleeve. The smallest: 36cm x 50.5cm (14 3/16in x 19 7/8in); the largest: 37.5cm x 76cm (14¾in x 29 15/16in). (22).

Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Toyohara Chikanobu achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in November last year. In the Patient Detail, Perfect DesignJapanese Art across the Centuries auction, the work Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century sold for GBP 2,422.50 (€ 2,807.12) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Toyohara Chikanobu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Scenes of beauties and farm life, which sold at auction in December 2021 for GBP 5,670.00 (€ 6,763.12).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Toyohara Chikanobu erzielte im November letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Patient Detail, Perfect DesignJapanese Art across the Centuries wurde die Arbeit Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century für GBP 2.422,50 (€ 2.807,12) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Toyohara Chikanobu mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Scenes of beauties and farm life beobachtet, die im Dezember 2021 für GBP 5.670,00 (€ 6.763,12) versteigert wurde.
