A top price for Toyohara Chikanobu - as previously expected
The work Scenes of beauties and farm life by Toyohara Chikanobu was sold in the Fine Japanese Prints auction at Sothebys in London in December 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,670.00 (€ 6,763.12) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Scenes of beauties and farm life is the most expensive artwork by Toyohara Chikanobu that we have observed at auctions so far.
