Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Barramundi, c.1964 by Yirawala was auctioned at Bonhams in Sydney in July 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 3,660.00 (€ 3,108.54). Admittedly, works by Yirawala have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Male And Female Kangaroos c.1965 in July 2020 with an auction result of AUD 31,720.00 (€ 26,940.72).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Barramundi, c.1964 von Yirawala im Juli 2020 bei Bonhams in Sydney versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 3.660,00 (€ 3.108,54) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Yirawala auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Male And Female Kangaroos c.1965 im Juli 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 31.720,00 (€ 26.940,72).
