Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Letters And Manuscript by Ye Gongchuo was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 50,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at HKD 226,800.00 (€ 24,282.49). Admittedly, works by Ye Gongchuo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy Couplet In Xingshu in April 2017 with an auction result of HKD 2,000,000.00 (€ 236,071.59).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Letters And Manuscript von Ye Gongchuo im April 2021 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 50.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 226.800,00 (€ 24.282,49) mehr als viermal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ye Gongchuo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Xingshu im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 2.000.000,00 (€ 236.071,59).
