Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Seven-Character Couplet In Running Script by Ye Gongchao was auctioned at China Guardian in Hong Kong in October 2017, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 5,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at HKD 23,600.00 (€ 2,597.46). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ye Gongchao achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Eighteen-Character Couplet In Running Script in May 2016 with an auction result of HKD 236,000.00 (€ 27,277.23).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Seven-Character Couplet In Running Script von Ye Gongchao im Oktober 2017 bei China Guardian in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 5.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 23.600,00 (€ 2.597,46) mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ye Gongchao erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Eighteen-Character Couplet In Running Script im Mai 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 236.000,00 (€ 27.277,23).
