This artwork by Ye Gongchao achieved an unexpectedly high price at China Guardian in Hong Kong in May 2016. In the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy from the Four Seas auction, the work Eighteen-Character Couplet In Running Script sold for HKD 236,000.00 (€ 27,277.23) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 120,000.00.
