In November 2018 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online, which included the work Seven-character Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script by Ye Gongchao. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 21,250.00 (€ 2,398.44), 42% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ye Gongchao achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Eighteen-Character Couplet In Running Script in May 2016 with an auction result of HKD 236,000.00 (€ 27,277.23).
