This artwork by Yan Shengsun achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2005. In the FINE CLASSICAL CHINESE PAINTINGS AND CALLIGRAPHY auction, the work Phoenix sold for HKD 156,000.00 (€ 16,245.53) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 80,000.00. This high result makes Phoenix the most expensive artwork by Yan Shengsun that we have observed at auctions so far.
