Upper estimate price exceeded by 96 %.
This artwork by Yan Pei-Ming achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in September 2021. In the Contemporary Showcase: Otaku Redux auction, the work Icons - Jean Paul II sold for HKD 17,640.00 (€ 1,956.44) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 9,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yan Pei-Ming achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pape in June 2008 with an auction result of GBP 1,026,850.00 (€ 1,297,972.83).
