The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,116.25 (€ 1,871.42), 40% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wycliffe Egginton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Homeward Bound, which sold at auction in May 2008 for GBP 3,000.00 (€ 3,816.13).

Die Arbeit Evening on the Moor von Wycliffe Egginton wurde im Mai 2001 in der Auktion The Irish Sale, Part II, including the Studio Collection of bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.116,25 (€ 1.871,42) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Wycliffe Egginton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Homeward Bound beobachtet, die im Mai 2008 für GBP 3.000,00 (€ 3.816,13) versteigert wurde.
