Artwork auctioned at eight times the upper estimate price
The work Ink Bamboo by Wu Peifu was worth USD 25,000.00 (€ 23,368.85) to a buyer in March 2017. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Paintings at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 3,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Wu Peifu; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy In Cursive Script sold at auction in April this year with the realized price of HKD 36,000.00 (€ 36,763.04).
