Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction The American Scene including Important Photographs from the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, which included the work Rock Ledge by William Wendt. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 44,100.00 (€ 41,095.89) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Wendt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Silence Of Night in June 2016 with an auction result of USD 286,000.00 (€ 259,245.83).
