Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2010 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work The Buttonwood Grove by William Tylee Ranney. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 31,250.00 (€ 23,103.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Tylee Ranney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Lazy Fisherman in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 662,500.00 (€ 475,968.10).
